Graduate students enrolled in Penn State's College of Agricultural Science, the College of Engineering or the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences can apply for one year of INSECT NET trainee support (incl. summer salary support) by filling out the interactive form below. To be eligible for an INSECT NET traineeship support, students must meet following requirements:

  • Be entering your second year of a PhD program
  • Enroll in ENT530: Tech and AI in Agriculture and Ecology (1cr) in Fall
  • Enroll in ENT597: Tech and AI in Living Systems (3cr) in Spring
  • Participate in the INSECT NET summer science communication workshop
  • Participate and present in the annual Tech and AI Research symposium (typically offered in September)

Student trainees will receive financial support for travel to an academic conference/workshop of their choosing provided the experience relates to their research goals. Further, trainees have the opportunity to pursue a summer research internship with INSECT NET partners and/or advisory board members, which includes funding for travel to the internship sponsor and materials for prototype development.

If you are concerned about your eligibility or your ability to participate in the above requirements, please reach out to INSECTNET@psu.edu to explain your situation - we would love to work with you to identify a path forward.
