Introduction to iNaturalist and R Shiny
Description: These materials were designed for individuals with little to no prior experience with coding or managing large datasets. With provided instructions, this activity provides a basic introduction to visualizing data in R Shiny using open-source iNaturalist data. Included in this packet are reflective and open ended questions that can be answered individually or in groups to discuss potential for bias in large, observational, open datasets and how to critically assess datasets that exhibit such biases. The development of these materials are products of support provided by the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and NSF NRT INCLUDES supplemental funding (INSECT NET: Bugs in the K-12 System'), award no. 2243979.
